Our Coaches

We are fortunate to have a great coaching team; our Head Coach, Karen Bradbury is supported by Della Clout, Katie Bowman, Richard Smith, Vicky Turton and Jan Annan. Tim Price leads the coaching for Water Polo. We are also lucky to have an experienced Learn to Swim roster of teachers as well as volunteer coaches and poolside helpers.

Karen Bradbury - Head Coach

Karen is an experienced ASA Level 3 coach and teacher with over 17 years experience teaching and coaching a vast range of abilities. Karen is also a coach and teacher at Holmewood House Prep School.

Karen swam for Monson's Top Squad in her youth for about 7 years, so is very pleased to have been appointed Head Coach in September 2024 taking responsibility for coaching our Junior Performance and Performance Squads.

Jan Annan - Junior Squad 1 & Junior Squad 2

Jan qualified as level 1 coach and then subsequently a Level 2 coach. She was inspired to do her training after being the Covid Lead during the pandemic and being poolside watching the coaches teaching and training the swimmers. She trained as a level 1 assistant swimming teacher and plans to complete her training sometime by doing her Level 2 swim teacher course. Jan is the lead for the two Junior Squads.Jan works in health care and so enjoys the swim coaching as it is very different from her day job. She enjoys watching the swimmers in the junior squads gain confidence and improve and many enjoy competing at some of our galas.

Katie Bowman - Cover Coach

Katie is a former member of RTW Monson and Monson Masters and joined the Monson team to help coach the Learn to Swim section of the club. For many years Katie coached the Age Group 2 Squad. She now provides coaching cover across the squads.

Della Clout - Development

Della has been coaching with Monson for the last 10 years, alongside her swim school and leisure management career. She has enjoyed being part of the county programme as a skills coach from 2016-2018, and gained her National Para Coach Certificate qualification in 2021.

Della loves being part of the Monson Family and now holds several roles including Head Swim Coach for Kent College, and Lead Coach for the Development Squad.

Mia Devey

Mia was previously a competitive swimmer to Regional level and a Lifesaver to national level. Mia qualified as a lifeguard and swimming teacher / coach in 2022. In her spare time, Mia loves baking and going to the gym.

Carole Murphy - Swim School Lead, Development & Academy 2

Carole has been teaching and coaching for over 11 years, and is both Level 2 Teaching Aquatics and Coaching qualified. As a former age-group and Masters swimmer, she is passionate about helping young swimmers reach their full potential - focusing on refining technique, building confidence and encouraging a life-long love for swimming. She enjoyed being part of the Kent County Pathway team as a Skills Coach in 2022, and currently supports both our Academy 2 and Development squads. Since January 2025, Carole has also taken on the role of Swim School Lead, where she oversees the Monson Swim School programme. Alongside her coaching roles, Carole also contributes to the club activities as a Team Manager and a qualified Starter.

Tim Price - Water Polo

Tim is a level 2 water polo coach, a level 2 diving coach, a water polo referee and a diving judge who has been coaching at Monson for over 30 years. Tim has been involved with the club as a swimmer, diver and water polo player for 40 years. His goal is to make these sports available to everyone to enjoy.

Vicky Turton - Youth Squad 2

Vicky began in the club as a swimming parent and soon preferred poolside to the balcony. She is a qualified swimming judge and started her coaching career when her children stopped swimming. She loves supporting the children to identify their swimming goals and achieving them with consistent support and encouragement to engage in technical and fitness aspects of swimming. You may also see Vicky on poolside as a Team Manager and supporting club international camps.
